Pie diabético: reporte de un caso y criterios de amputación

RESUMEN 

Se reporta un caso de pie diabético en un paciente de 48 años de edad, con antecedentes de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 desde hacía 13
años, con varios episodios de pie diabético y neuro-osteoartropatía de Charcot, úlcera plantar crónica recurrente y necrobiosis. En tres
ocasiones se le propuso amputación mayor (supracondílea), pero el paciente sólo aceptó amputaciones menores, con resultados clínicos
aceptables.

ABSTRACT

The case of diabetic foot is reported in a 48 year-old patient. He has background of diabetes mellitus type 2 for 13 years. He has had
several episodes of diabetic foot including Charcot neuro-osteoathropathy, chronic and recurrent ulcer on the plantar surface, necrosis,
and infection. In three occasions he was proposed major amputation (above-knee), but the patient only accepted minor amputations, those
which they were carried out, with acceptable clinical results.
